Back from fixing the proxy settings, again. If anyone knows why the hell the explicit proxy selection in W98SE's Internet Settings keeps deselecting itself, we'd love to know. We're in the process of going through the 57 varieties of valid email siting in our inbox. As ever, The Register proves to be an interesting provider of links and an annoyingly superficial provider of coverage: a weak twig from which to bounce rapidly onto more solid footing. Their blog-related article led us to the much more interesting report. From which arise several questions:

  1. Why do user of LJ stick around longer than the users of other services?
  2. Where available, how reliable are the personal data for users?
  3. Where are all the teenaged girls on our friends list?

Still, it's probably good all the putative 10 million don't carry on. A virtual din to match a flock of starlings at dusk.

Tried it before, but this time it came up with something fun and with the requisite syllable count:

LiveJournal Haiku!

Your haiku:winds and bright sunshine

So thinks to [livejournal.com profile] boxofdelights for reminding us (rather appropriately in light of the outcome) to try again.
