Belated New Year Whatsits

Well, it's 2004. We got greetings by email and by txt (many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] the_magician: hope you found parking and got your flight OK).


Don't, and didn't, feel terribly New Yearish, always finding solstice a more meaningful marker.


Still, New Year Felicitations to those who choose to celebrate.


We also have a dilemma. Yesterday we finished our new scarf. We can't really count it as the first finished project of 2004, can we?

But actually in existence: the Research Institute for Out of Equilibrium Phenomena (Institut de Recherche sur les Phénomènes Hors Équilibre: we checked in case the transalation was suspect, but we were reading Nature at the time). Results just published solve the problem of what angle a skimmed stone should hit the water to maximise the number of bounces.
